Followed by 30 minutes of group drills. Players are separated by age and ability so that they are neither over challenged nor under challenged. Drills consist of shooting, passing, offensive drills, and defensive drills. We all realize how important first impressions are for coaches and teams. This is a program that should interest all the serious hockey players designed to instill all the skills involved in the game of hockey. This sessions will include an in depth overview of all the major elements of the game. Systematic progression throughout the sessions will include a very intense power skate base for increased conditioning in preparation for the tryout sessions. Time Clinic 9:15am -10:30 Powerskating Clinic 10:45am – 12:00 Stickhandling and Shooting 12:15pm– 2:15 Public Skating. Lunch in the cafeteria. 2:30pm – 3:45 Defensive Skills Peewees/Bantams will participate in Checking drills. Mites/Squirts will focus on defensive play. Sergei’s defensive play program will focus on positional defense, transition play, back checking, and puck control. Because skating is the basis for every aspect of the game, each day of the program will begin with a Powerskating session which will systematically break each players comfort zones in backwards skating, pivots, stops and starts, power turns, and explosiveness. Our program will also include defensive specific instruction on proper skating, puck handling, coverage, and body play. This program is a great opportunity for players to improve upon their defensive play and add to their overall abilities, so they can continue to improve. Sergei and his professional staff will dispel the myths that your player has been taught throughout his/her youth career. Keep in mind that these clinics are for forwards as well as defenseman and it is a must that all developing players know the psyche behind both positions so they can take their game to the next level! Campers will be divided into four groups based on age and ability. Camp will consist of on-ice training, off-ice training, instructional sessions, video analysis and scrimmages. A variety of drills will be introduced to focus on all aspects of game play. Each day our on-ice program will begin with power skating and end with a mini-game/scrimmage. The rest of the time we will work on a variety of skills to increase stick handling, defensive play, passing and shooting. Off the ice players will focus on key aspects of the game and strength and conditioning. Our camps are always fun and productive. Camp will consist of on-ice and off-ice training.
